Sugar Alternatives

As you know, many foods contain highly processed sugars. These sugars are as addictive as cocaine.

Some people try to lose weight by elminating it from their diets, only to be met with major fallout, and weight gain.

Bad news to some and good news to others is: The body NEEDS sugar. It is a vital macro-nutrient that gives the body energy.

However, here is good news all around: there are better alternatives.

For those trying an all natural and paleo diet there are two main sweetening options. One is raw honey, the other is: maple syrup( the natural stuff, not Mrs. Buttersworth, or other similar brands)

Honey is beneficial for several reasons. One is that it it contains trace amounts of B-vitamins, calcium, potassium, iron, and several others. It tastes extremely sweet, like candy, but actually helps your body boost its energy and lose weight!

It is also a great antibiotic. If you are feeling slightly under the weather or have a sore throat, take some honey, mix it in with tea, etc. Or if you have a small cut and no neosporin, mix a little bit of honey with a little bit of water and spread it on the wound( I’ve done this several times and it works)

Maple Syrup is not exactly a raw food option, but it is really good for vegan diets. It also has very great health benefits. These include:boosting the immune system, maintaining heart health, and preventing cardiovascular disease, and is rich in antioxidant properties. It contains zinc and manganese which help fight colds. As if the list wasn’t long enough, maple syrup also fights bloating, as well as fights cancer!

So if you are desperate to shed weight, eat sugar! But make sure its the right kind. Go for honey or maple syrup to fill the cravings, and actually boost the transformation! In addition, be kind and patient towards yourself. You are baby stepping and learning. Breaking habits are never easy, but look at you! You are making the effort to break those habits, and that means more than anything else.good luck on your health adventures!!!
